OUR STORY
The focus of The Alkebulan Alumni Association is to unite past program participants and get them actively engaged in the planning and supporting of current Alkebulan programs. Our mission is to cultivate the talents, skills and minds of today's Black youth. Through the expansion we unite youth in urban communities into the rich and proud traditions of the Alkebulan Youth Program of The Shrine of the Black Maddona of The Pan African Orthodox Christian Church. For nearly 50 years the Alkebulan Youth Program has successfully created a nurturing youth environment geared towards addressing the needs of the whole child; mind, body, and spirit. The youth of Alkebulan will be immersed into a supportive community where they can discover their purpose and begin to act on their gifts. Throughout the course of the year, participants will engage in academic enrichment, spiritual awareness, group centered activities, field trips, social development and much more!
Life at Camp
Here at Camp Alkebulan we like to engage our children in a variety of activities. This in turn keeps their minds stimulated in the summer and opens their horizons to different things they are not always exposed to. We offer academic enrichment, cultural arts, athletics, horseback riding, African spirituality, weekly field trips, swimming, gardening and so much more.

“That was the best camp I have ever been to. The food was good and I made so many new friends. I can't wait until next year.”

“What I loved about this camp is that it was an overnight camp. I had never been to an overnight camp before. We did so many activities and I even got to ride a horse!”

“The staff at camp was so nice and cool. I learned so many things about Black culture that I didn't know. I hope my mom and dad put me in camp every year.”
